Voting on the two entries in December closed last night and we can announce that the delightful 'Dulcimer' is the winner of that heat. Congratulations to Paria Kamyab and thank you for introducing us to Kendall Ludwig's art. Many thanks to Nic Wassell for his contribution with 'She Wrote Me' no stranger to winning here, but I am afraid not this time. The two new entries for January 'Souvenir' and 'First Days of Harinezumi' were all that ere received and you can vote on these until the 29th February. So we still have a competition you can vote on even though we are not accepting entries in a February heat. Any films entered during this period will be automatically put through to compete in teh March competition.
Please follow the link to prizes to see the prizes for this coming monthly heat (N.B. While our monthly winner will still receive a Flip camera, our Annual prizes are currently being reviewed and those shown are yet to be confirmed).
The reason we leave the voting open to the end of the month following each heat of the competition so that even if you only enter right at the end of any particular month, there is still plenty of time for members to vote and review the films submitted. Obviously if you enter at the start of the month there is more time for people to see your stuff, so don't hang about.
The individual winners of each monthly heat will be adjudicated on by a panel of industry professionals who have agreed to act as our judges (See Judges on the Home Page). The winner and two runners up will each be awarded annual prizes designed to promote their film making efforts
With your participation MovieMogul.co.uk can become a useful promotional tool for emerging talent, as well as a lot of fun. Membership will enable film makers of all levels and disciplines to interact, collaborate and create new material together. We also see a point where good natured rivalries between individuals, colleges and schools can develop and even settle those creative scores in a kind of short film face-off!
You need to be registered to vote on or review individual competition entries. Voting is by clicking on the appropriate star rating for the film you are viewing. As you run your cursor over the stars, found at the bottom left corner of your chosen film, they light up and, when you have the right number highlighted, one click and the vote is registered, (1 = Low, 5 = High). Rememeber you will be blocked after entering one vote on any particular film, so do make sure the first click is the one you mean.

Urban Exploration is a short documentary produced for our final year project at Edinburgh Napier University. If most of the world has been explored what is left for the budding explorer to see. They can rediscover, explore the forgotten, hidden parts of our built environment. The documentary observes the desire in today’s developed societies to leave safe city areas and explore the unknown, and importantly the act of recording these experiences. The film follows three urban explorers in Edinburgh and provides an insight into the increasingly popular past-time of urban exploration. Abandoned buildings, tunnels, industrial sites, high places are all examples of the type of places they explore. An abandoned seminary looms round the corner in a forest that has grown up around it. A soon the be demolished city centre brewery under the cover of darkness. A rooftop of a gutted office block at sunset. A derelict hospital administration building's basement tunnels. These people, looking for something fun to do go urban exploring and do it in their own way. They are not a typical snapshot of urban explorers but show their way of doing things. Looking at their photography you can see not only the beauty in the decay but that they are serious about what they do. Not only is it the act of exploring but the thrill and danger of possibly being caught. In this increasingly health and safety conscious world these young men look to the often dangerous off limits areas in search of fun and the chance to see something new....watch now!

FALKO is a documentary about Falko Burkert, a German pastry chef and bakery owner in Edinburgh. He bakes according to special German baking rules and guarantees high quality products. Baking for him is a craft, but it is also an art that takes time. His cafe is very dear to many Germans in Edinburgh, Falko himself included. Falko cherishes everything from the past and he wants to keep the coffeehouse tradition alive that he still remembers from his childhood in Germany. We follow Falko not only geographically from Gullane to Edinburgh, but as we travel with him through time he tells us about his earlier years and principles. We follow bread and apple strudel from ingredients to finish and experience the passing of time through Falko's products. ...watch now!
